by isleofman.com 22nd September 2010

A MALE was kicked and stamped on during an assault in the area of Moby Dick's chip shop in Queen's Promenade, Douglas.

Police said there was an "altercation" involving a number of males between 1am and 5am on Sunday.

During the incident it is believed one of the males was kicked and stamped on while he was on the ground and he suffered serious injuries that required hospital treatment.

A spokesman for the Douglas Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "This level of violence on the Isle of Man is thankfully very rare, however, it is still a very nasty assault that has resulted in some serious injuries.

"As such I would urge any members of the public who have any information, no matter how trivial they may feel it is, to come forward and speak to the police."

Contact the police on 631212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
