A decision has been made to fly the Isle of Man team to the Commonwealth Games in Delhi on Saturday, as planned.
However, if competitors feel the lodgings in the widely criticised athletes village are unacceptable, steps will be taken to return home.
The Manx squad will be housed in what is said to be some of the better accommodation in the complex.
Chef de mission Tonia Lushington and operations manager Danielle Mottram are already in India and feel they can bring the quarters up to an acceptable standard of cleanliness before the main party arrives on Sunday.
There was further concern yesterday (Monday) after a footbridge from a car park to the main stadium collapsed, injuring around 30 people, five of them critically.
Sports editor Tim Glover reports: (text, below, from attached audio file):
After attending several meetings in Delhi, including with the British high commissioner, it's reported Scotland and Wales remain the most concerned of the home countries.
Two things are clear - the games will not be be cancelled and it's the village or nothing as there is no hotel space available, never mind the implications for security of a late 'Plan B'.
There are health and safety concerns over things such as uneven pavements, but the other facilities in the village, away from sleeping areas, are said to be excellent.
The advance party also states that sporting venues being used by Manx competitors are good, apart from the site for the archery finals which is still being finished.
The Isle of Man team is to be made fully aware that there will be challenges and limitations away from competition.
