by isleofman.com 21st September 2010

CHILDREN in the south of the Island will have the chance to try new activities at youth centres this year.

Staff from the Castletown and Rushen centres have planned a new programme of events to keep children busy throughout the autumn and winter.

Jo Halpin, youth and community worker for the south, said: "New youth workers and assistants have joined our established youth worker team.

"Our aim is to provide young people with a diverse programme that will both appeal to them and provide them with a safe place to meet and get involved in or try out new experiences."

New activities include horse riding, graffiti art sessions and media activities.

There is also an art and drama club for school years four to seven which will take place between 4.30pm and 6.30pm at Castletown Youth Centre in Arbory Street.

A new girls group for years seven and up will take place each Thursday at Castletown Youth Centre from 7pm to 9.30pm.
