Isle of Man concerned over Delhi Village

by isleofman.com 21st September 2010

The Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association has told Manx Radio it is "concerned but not unduly worried" about reported problems at the athletes village in Delhi.

A Manx advance party in India admits the accommodation does need a thorough clean before the team arrive on Sunday.

According to the BBC, Games Federation Chief Mike Fennell has described the village as "seriously compromised" after the monsoon season exposed plumbing and electrical issues.

New Zealand is questioning whether the whole event will go ahead......while England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Canada are voicing their concerns about the state of the village.

The facility officially opens to 7,000 competitors and officials on Thursday and is currently in a security lock down.
