A 20-year-old man who had sex with an underage girl has been jailed for a year by Deemster Doyle.
Oliver James Hayman pleaded guilty to the charge, and also admitted performing an act of gross indecency, burglary and theft.
He was arrested in April, when the girl was 15, and was bailed on the condition he didn’t contact her.
However, in early June, he was found on Douglas Head by police officers as he and the teenager engaged in an act of gross indecency.
The court heard Hayman stole a Playstation 3 console and games from his stepfather's home in August, and burgled the Longboat Restaurant, from which he stole money and confectionery.
His advocate said Hayman had been in a relationship with the girl for some time and she was a willing participant, but he was immature, and foolish for getting involved with her.
Deemster Doyle placed Hayman on the sex offenders' register for five years and extended his licence period to two years.
