Sponsored bed push to raise money for Pakistan

by isleofman.com 20th September 2010

A DOCTOR from Noble’s Hospital is holding a sponsored bed push in aid of the victims of the Pakistan floods.

Doctor Emran Khan, a consultant physician at the hospital, has arranged the event with staff from Noble’s and KPMG.

It will start at the Sea Terminal and proceed along Douglas Promenade this Sunday, September 26 at 2pm.

The charity UNICEF has said that Pakistan is facing the largest humanitarian crisis of its history.

People in affected areas are in desperate need of clean water and sanitation. Stagnating water and sweltering temperatures are encouraging the spread of life threatening diseases such as malaria, acute diarrhoea and cholera.

Doctor Khan said: "With your assistance we can continue to help people deal with the current crisis and its aftermath. The money raised will be taken to the affected villages and we need your support to avoid a public health crisis. Please donate what you can as your donation will help to rebuild lives."

Anyone wishing to sponsor the bed push is asked to donate on the day or send donations to Doctor Khan at 33 Farmhill Park, Douglas, IM2 2ED.
