Champion beatboxer Beardyman to play in the Isle of Man

by isleofman.com 20th September 2010

A CHAMPION beatboxer, who has been described as "The King of Sound" by the BBC, will perform in the Isle of Man in October.

Darren Foreman - aka Beardyman - is a musician from London who is renowned for his beatboxing skills and use of live looping technology.

Described by the BBC as "The Ruler of the Beats" Beardyman is the only person to retain the title of UK Beatbox Champion for two years running.

Beardyman uses cutting edge sound mangling technology to create layered rhythms, soundscapes and fully produced songs which are created entirely from his own voice.

No pre-recorded material is used - everything is created live and in real time in front of the audience.

The artist has supported the likes of The Beastie Boys, Fat Boy Slim, Underworld, Groove Armada and Blondie.

He has also played a number of festivals including Glastonbury, Reading, Bestival, Leeds and Fuji Rock in Japan.

Beardyman will play The Courthouse Club in Douglas on Friday, October 8.

Admission is £20 on the door on a first come first served basis. Doors will open at 10pm.
