Cav Poised for Historic Green

by isleofman.com 19th September 2010

Isle of Man cycling star Mark Cavendish is on the verge of winning his first grand tour jersey and becoming only the second British rider to do so.

The Manx Missile goes into this afternoon's 21st and final stage of the Tour of Spain with a 12 point advantage over American rival Tyler Farrar.

Today's run into Madrid is short at only 85 kilometres and flat, so a sprint finish is almost certain.

Cav has won three stages at his debut in the Spanish tour and now has 23 grand tour wins in France, Italy and Spain since turning professional in 2007.
