'Roaming charges can be too high' - MHK

A member of the House of Keys wants the Island's telecommunications companies to do more to protect their customers from high roaming charges, incurred when mobile phones are used in other countries.

On Granada Reports, East Douglas MHK Chris Robertshaw said Sure and Manx Telecom should follow the lead of the European Union, which has introduced a 50 Euro cap on such fees, where they relate to downloaded data (first part of attached audio file).

On the same programme, Isle of Man resident Conrad Roberts told Granada Reports he found out he had racked up enormous charges when he came back from a holiday in the Canary Islands (second part of audio file):
