A CHARITY has organised workshop sessions about recovery for people who have suffered mental health problems.
The Service Users’ Network, (SUN) has arranged the sessions fror next month and they will be led by trainer John McCormack of the Glasgow Association of Mental Health.
The workshops will be held on October 14 and 15 at the Seminar Room at the Manx Museum, Douglas, to coincide with World Mental Health Week.
The charity said: "Recovery in mental health is a unique and personal process.
"It emphasises that while a person may not have full control over the symptoms of their mental health, they can have full control over their lives.
"It is a person centred, strengths based approach which puts the service user at the very heart of the process. If you want to learn more about this approach in your own recovery or in your work, please come along to this exciting event."
The aims of SUN are "to contribute to the continued development of contemporary, recovery focused mental health services on the Isle of Man and to raise awareness and challenge the stigma associated with mental illness".
Membership of SUN is open to anyone who has suffered mental ill health or has an interest in mental health.
John will be holding three sessions: The first is on Thursday, October 14 at 1.30pm for tea and coffee, then 2pm until 4.30pm.
The second is on Thursday, October 14 at 6pm for light refreshments, then 6.30pm until 9pm.
The third is on Friday, October 15 at 9.30am for tea and coffee, then 10am until 12.30pm. This session is an extension for those who have already attended a session either last year or the previous day.
