'Don't let burglars take advantage of scaffolding'

by isleofman.com 16th September 2010

Police are investigating an attempted burglary at offices in Finch Road, Douglas.

It happened sometime between 4pm on Tuesday and 8am yesterday (Wednesday), when the potential intruders climbed up scaffolding on the outside of the building and tried to open a window.

They failed to get inside and officers say the building's alarm system would have been activated if they had.

However, they say the incident highlights problems which can occur when buildings are surrounded by scaffolding and are urging property owners to be extra vigilant when work is taking place.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to ring Police Headquarters on 631212, on the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
