MHK welcomes enthusiasm for regeneration plans

by isleofman.com 15th September 2010

Peel MHK Tim Crookall says he has been encouraged by the reaction of the people of the town to regeneration proposals.

Consultants for the commissioners McGarrigle and Jackson prepared twelve exhibition posters for display in the town hall, earlier in the summer.

Sixty questionnaires were were completed and returned, with feedback suggesting people liked the longer term, collaborative approach which was being taken to future development.

Mr Crookall hopes the initiative will provide a blueprint for the future of the Sunset City (play audio file):

The Peel Regeneration Committee will now produce a comprehensive presentation with emphasis on the high priority first phase of the scheme.

It relates to Market Place and its link to East Quay, the area around the promenade kiosk and its link to Michael Street, Atholl Place and the section of Derby Road by the bus stop, linking into a major project for St German’s Cathedral.
