ORGANISERS of this year’s Food and Drink Festival have said it will appeal to children as well as adults.
A range of child friendly events, activities and demonstrations will be put on over the course of the two day festival which takes place on September 25 and 26.
John Shimmin MHK, Minister for the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture said: "The Isle of Man Food and Drink Festival will offer activities for children of all ages to enjoy.
"It’s important to encourage children to think about where their food comes from and take an interest in cooking from an early age to ensure they eat well in the future."
Greeba Farm will be holding a Manx Mushroom Experience which will see activities and tastings held in a special mushroom marquee.
Aspiring young chefs will have the chance to pick up tips from chefs in the Manx Food Theatre where special guest Gino D’Acampo will be cooking.
On Sunday the Family Manx magazine will be running events for children in the Villa Marina Arcade.
There will also be the chance for children to cook with the head chef from Harbour Lights in Ramsey, a cake design competition and the chance to have a personalised chocolate bar wrapper created.
Over the two days families will also be able to participate in the Isle of Man Adoption Service’s recipe exchange which will be held in the Villa Marina Arcade.
Amy Maguire, a director from the charity, said: "Families can bring along their own family recipes to share and exchange. Recipe’s can be pinned to a recipe exchange board for other festival goers to take inspiration from.
"A selection of the recipes and the stories behind them will be printed in a recipe book which will be available near Christmas."
The Isle of Man Food and Drink Festival takes place on September 25 and 26 from 11am to 5pm.
Admission is £3 for adults and free for children.
