A leading racer says it's time to consider major changes to road racing to ensure the sport has a future.
Ryan Farquhar is calling for a review into bike classes, spectator and marshal safety following a number of fatal incidents in Ireland and on the Isle of Man this season.
The Dungannon rider believes Superbike, Superstock and Supersport machinery is now too quick for most of the national circuits used both north and south of the border in Ireland.......but feels the international meetings, which include the T.T., need to look at things too.
He says insurance needed to run road racing will inevitably increase substantially for next season - making things more difficult for both organisers and competitors.
Farquhar says the sport will always be dangerous but the time has come to try and reduce the risks as much as possible:-
