Brown responds to healthcare agreement criticism

by isleofman.com 11th September 2010

The chief minister has given his side of the story, after the chairman of a local charity claimed it was the Manx people, rather than politicians, who should be given credit for the new Reciprocal Healthcare Agreement.

Tony Brown said Henry Rammage of the Friends of the Manx Diabetes Centre was entitled to his opinion, but he did acknowledge the government's efforts in writing, after Mr Brown announced a deal had been reached, earlier this year (play audio file):

Under the new agreement Manx residents visiting the UK will continue to receive free hospital treatment on the NHS, with a similar arrangement applying for people travelling in the opposite direction.
