The Manx government says it’s shrugging off jokes made by actress Emma Thompson after she admitted mixing up her islands.
On an American talk show, she said homosexuals were publicly stoned on the Isle of Wight and people were allowed to shoot Scotsmen.
But in an emailed apology to Isle of Wight councillors she now says the insults were meant for the Isle of Man.
A Manx government spokesman said: 'Emma Thompson was obviously joking so we are not taking her comments seriously.
'For the record the Isle of Man’s exceptional quality of life is enjoyed by a wide variety of residents and visitors, including a number of Scots.'
