Concern over check-up changes

by isleofman.com 8th September 2010

The practice manager at a Douglas dentist says he believes extending the times between routine check-ups by government contracted dentists WILL have a detrimental affect on patient's dental health.

A shortage of such dentists on the Island has forced the Department of Health to reduce the level of service it provides.

Five such dentists, a quarter of the Department's roster, have left the service in the last few months.

Whilst efforts are underway to replace them, the Department of Health says the Island's dental health shouldn't suffer as a result of waiting longer for check-ups.

That claim is rejected by Brian Hewitt from dental practice A.D Hewitt.
