Routes to school affected by building work

by isleofman.com 7th September 2010

PARENTS of pupils returning to Ballasalla Primary School tomorrow (Wednesday) are being reminded that their route to school may be affected due to ongoing building work.

Redevelopment work to the Clagh Vane estate is still taking place meaning parents could face disruption when dropping off and collecting their children.

Contractors are working to minimise disruption and parking will be reinstated in Cobbold Place following work carried out there.

However contractors’ vehicles may still be present in the turning circle by the main school gates meaning parking could be disrupted.

Some pavements around the school have also been re-routed to avoid the construction work.

The footpath leading from the Abbotswood estate passing the back of Barrule Drive and Quine’s Close has been reopened. However caution is advised as surface dressing is still taking place.

Headteacher Lyn Ashworth said: "The contractors have worked hard and liaised closely with us to ensure access to the school is available so that school can open as scheduled at 9am on Wednesday."

The work at Clagh Vane is part of an ongoing investment by the Department of Social Care to improve the environment of the estate.
