by isleofman.com 7th September 2010

An inquest has heard a 69 year-old man from Cambridgeshire killed in a road accident in the south of the Island died from multiple injuries.

Retired engineer Melvin Arthur Unwin was riding a motorbike when it was involved in a collision with a car on Shoulder Road, south of the Roundtable crossroads.

Although there were no obvious injuries, no pulse was found and Mr Unwin, who was visiting the Island for the Manx Grand Prix, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post mortem showed death was caused by massive blunt force trauma.

Coroner of inquests Alastair Montgomerie offered condolences to Mr Unwin's wife and three children, as well as other family members and friends.
