Kent wins Lightweight MGP

by isleofman.com 3rd September 2010

This morning's Lightweight MGP has been won by Neil Kent.

It was a first victory for the rider who won the spirit of Manx Award.

It was also a win for Yamaha, breaking Honda's domination in the event.

The race started an hour late at 11.15 due to low cloud over the mountain.

Second was Tom Snow and third Stuart Garton.

Neil told Chris Kinley he'd enjoyed it.

The ultra lightweight event was won by Phil McGurk, also his first win on the Mountain course. He set a new lap record in the class at 112.572 miles per hour and a new race record. Second was Rab Davy and third Joe Phillips.

A remarkably relaxed McGurk said he was delighted with the win and he'd be out celebrating this afternoon as he wasn't racing this afternoon.
