Girls rescued in Douglas Bay

Three teenage girls were rescued from Douglas Bay yesterday (Mon) after their inflatable boat capsized.

The girls, who were aged 15 and 16, were struggling in the water when the boat began to sink.

Members of the public on Douglas Promenade raised the alarm when they heard the girls' cry for help late yesterday afternoon.

Rescue swimmers from Douglas Coastguard swam out to sea while the crew of a nearby lobster potting boat pulled them from the water.

Station Officer at Douglas Coastguard David Keggin says it was a serious incident - resolved thanks to quick actions all round:
