Speeds force MGP race change

by isleofman.com 30th August 2010

Organisers have been forced to change the start order for this morning's opening race of the Manx Grand Prix because of the speeds recorded in practice.

The Senior Post Classic bikes have been moved up the grid to start second after the Newcomers "A" competitors.

Michael Dunlop was quickest on Friday evening at an incredible 119.590 mph - that's just 25 seconds outside the outright MGP lap record on a bike which is seven years older than he is.

Dunlop says there's less pressure than at a TT, but he is determind to record another win around the Mountain Course: (play clip)

Roads around the Mountain Course will close at 9.30am with racing due from 10.15am.

Manx Radio will have commentary on AM1368 from 9.30am - the second race of the day is the Junior/Lightweight Classic at 1.15pm.
