Delight at Gaiety Theatre records

Community, culture and leisure minister David Cretney says he’s delighted after the Gaiety Theatre broke box-office records.

Its last show, Oliver, set a new benchmark for for ticket sales with more than 9,000 people watching it.

But it’s also been a year of success for the restored theatre, with news 23,000 people packed inside over the summer season – an all-time record for the venue.

Mr Cretney says it’s good news for the theatre – as well as government coffers:
