World's best Queen tribute act to perform this week

by isleofman.com 24th August 2010

A QUEEN tribute band is set to rock the Villa Marina stage on Thursday.

Killer Queen is the lead tribute band to Queen and will play the Royal Hall on August 26.

The show features lead singer Patrick Myers as Freddie Mercury, backed by a four piece band who have been hand picked to emulate Brian May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor.

Their set spans Queen’s entire recording career and will include big hits such as Bohemian Rhapsody, Don’t Stop Me Now, We Are The Champions, Crazy Little Thing Called Love and You’re My Best Friend.

Fans can expect spectacular stage set up, costumes and special effects.

Killer Queen were formed in 1993. Their first public shows were at London University, following in the footsteps of the real Queen who had played their first shows there 21 years earlier.

By 1995, Killer Queen’s UK popularity had grown to such an extent they secured a residency in London’s Strand Theatre. They were the first tribute act to have a show in the West End.

In 1999 the band won an award for Worldwide Best Tribute Band. They have toured Holland, Estonia, Belgium, Dubai, Moscow, Madrid, Portugal and Cannes.

The band has also performed with many acts including Wilson Pickett, Ian Dury and the Blockheads and Bob Geldof.

Tickets for the event cost £19.50 for unreserved seating/standing or £23.50 for the dress circle.

Doors open at 7pm.
