THE Row the Rock challenge - due to start tomorrow (Saturday) - has been postponed due to the weather conditions.
A team was due to row round the Island in a Viking Long Boat.
The 15-strong crew had planned to cover the 90 miles of the Irish Sea in less than 27 hours to get their names in the history books.
The current record, at 27 hours, was set in 1995 by members of the Viking Longboat Committee.
The new challengers, which include people from surveyors to teachers, have rowed more than 40 miles in preparation in a bid to beat the world record and all the money raised from the event - when it does go ahead - will go to charity.
Spokesman Andy Mulhern said: "Unfortunately, due to the weather conditions we will not be attempting the challenge tomorrow.
"We will advise further once the weather conditions have settled and the forecasts have been produced."
