by isleofman.com 20th August 2010

THE Manx Saxophone Ensemble will host its first weekend workshop in September.

The workshop will be run by two experienced saxophonists, husband and wife team, Ian and Ellen Briggs, from Northern Ireland.

The two day event will take place on Saturday, September 18 and Sunday, September 19, at the Eastcliffe Resource Centre, Victoria Road, Douglas.

Musical director of the Manx Saxophone Ensemble, Jem Cotton, said: "We are very fortunate to have the services of Ian and Ellen, who will lead the group in a number of ensemble and small group sessions."

There will also be an informal concert at Peel Methodist Church on the Sunday afternoon at 1.30pm, where the saxophonists will put into practice what they have learned.

Jem continued: "The event is not just for members of the MSE but open to all saxophonists who are welcome to join us in what promises to be a rewarding and fun weekend."

The workshop costs £25 for adults and £15 for students, in full time education.
