SCOUTING For Girls took the Villa Marina stage by storm last night (Tuesday), as they played to a packed out venue.
The band was on form as they played a mixture of songs from their two hit albums.
Opening the show with the Brit nominated song Heartbeat, the band quickly got the audience on side.
Front man and lead singer Roy Stride seemed to have an endless supply of energy as he bounced around the stage whilst at all times remaining note perfect.
The set was fast flowing with the band effortlessly intertwining some of their most popular hits from their first album, Scouting For Girls, with fresh songs from the recently released number one album, Everybody Wants To Be Famous.
New songs Famous, Posh Girls and 1+1=3 were well received as was the cover version of Live and Let Die.
Audience participation on the night was a must and the band did a fantastic job of getting the crowd involved.
At one point Stride grabbed his own video camera and began to film the crowd, obviously impressed with the audience response.
In the middle of sing along anthem Elvis Ain’t Dead, the frontman disappeared from the stage. As the audience clapped for more, he reappeared in the circle to continue the song to the delight of those with seated tickets.
The band was full of praise for the audience throughout, with the group describing the crowd as the fifth member of the band. At times they looked visibly moved by the audiences reaction to them.
As they left the stage at the end of the set, the crowd demanded more. The band returned to the stage to perform two final songs which included the number one single, This Ain’t A Love Song, and one of their most popular hits, She’s So Lovely.
During the instrumental of the latter, a rather emotional looking Stride addressed the crowd claiming: "This is the kind of show I dreamt about doing when I was a little boy."
Writing on Twitter after the gig the band commented: "Isle of Man was fricking amazing tonight. You guys were such an incredible crowd. Cannot wait to come back. Thank you."
Judging by the response of last night’s crowd, they would be welcomed back in an instant.
