Bellis and Halsall to Miss Delhi

by isleofman.com 18th August 2010

Cyclist Jonny Bellis and swimmer Grant Halsall are out of October's Commonwealth Games in India.

Bellis has recovered from a near fatal scooter crash in Italy last September where he was kept for some weeks in an induced coma.

He returned home after nearly six months rehabilitation in Florence and London.

Tim Glover reports:-

Bellis is due to have an operation shortly to cure a hernia and therefore will miss out on representing the Isle of Man in Delhi.

Halsall has suffered a broken arm in a cycling accident - he was the sole Manx swimmer for the event.

Athletes have been added to the team:-

Olivia Curran becomes the first female gymnast to represent the island at this level and Adam Hedges joins the male squad.

David Walton becomes the 11th shooter in the Manx team and Tom Black replaces Bellis in a strong looking cycling contingent.
