by isleofman.com 16th August 2010

THE death of retired doctor David Wallace Young has been described as "a very sad day for the Laxey community".

Dr Young, 62, was found dead at his home in Laxey this morning (Monday).

Speaker of the House of Keys Steve Rodan, who is MHK for Garff - which includes Laxey - has paid tribute to Dr Young who he knew for more than 20 years.

Mr Rodan knew Dr Young in a professional capacity as he is a pharmacist in the village.

He said: "This is certainly a very very sad day for the Laxey community. Dr Young was a well respected and popular GP for many years.

"Our thoughts are with his three daughters and his wife."

Dr Young, who had been based at Laxey Health Centre, retired in January this year.

Police are investigating the circumstances of his death.
