by isleofman.com 14th August 2010

Police are continuing to appeal for information about an alleged assault in Douglas in the early hours of last Saturday morning.

A 32-year-old man was left with serious head and facial injuries following the incident on Granville Street, which happened at about 12.30am, and was kept in Noble's Hospital overnight.

Officers say a 35-year-old Douglas man, Robert James Dick, was arrested and appeared in court on Monday, charged with assault causing actual bodily harm.

He's been remanded in custody until Tuesday, when he'll appear in court again.

Pc Sarah Corkish says, "Although we have charged a man in connection with this I am still keen to speak with anyone who can provide further information regarding the allegation of assault or matters leading up to it.

"It has been said that there was an incident that may has been a precursor to this, moments before, within Jaks."

Call police headquarters on 631212 if you know or saw anything.
