Manx firm wins oil contract

A Manx company has won a contract to build two offshore drilling rigs in a deal worth around ?190 million.

The United Arab Emirates National Drilling Company awarded the contract to Lamprell plc at the NDC’s head office in Abu Dhabi.

Lamprell, which has its registered offices in Athol Street, will construct two offshore oil drilling jack up rigs to meet international standards.

At the signing ceremony, NDC general manager Abdalla Saeed Al Suwaidi said the project marked a significant milestone in the company's history.
