Laughs in store at tonight's Comedy Club

by isleofman.com 18th August 2010

EXPECT laughs a plenty tomorrow night (Thursday) as the Comedy Club returns to the Villa Marina.

Headlining the event is Wayne Deakin, the only comedian ever selected to tour the UN bases entertaining Australian and UN troops.

A regular headliner at Australian comedy venues, Wayne also tours constantly throughout the USA, Canada and the UK.

He combines a likeable laconic style with biting social commentary, intended to get the audience thinking as well as laughing.

Performance highlights include the Montreal Comedy Festival, Meredith Music Festival and The Falls Festival, where he performed to more than 10,000 people.

The MC for the evening goes by the name of Windsor. A highly skilled and professional comedy circuit compere and stand-up comic, Windsor has an instinctive ability to involve and warm up any audience.

Having developed and honed his act as a street performer, Windsor has taken on the world of stand-up with an act that is unique in both its abrasiveness and brilliance.

Also performing on the night is Duncan Oakley, who was a Tuborg Musical Comedy Awards finalist in 2009. A musician, composer and performer for more than twenty years, Duncan performs an infectious mix of musical comedy and stand up.

With an eye and ear for the silly, rude, playful and irritating occurrences of daily life, he musters up songs that are guaranteed to raise a smile.

Tickets for the over 18s event are £15 (£12.50 for members) and are available from the Welcome Centre at the Sea Terminal, Douglas, or by calling the ticket hotline on 01624 694555. Doors open at 7.30pm.
