Manxman 3rd in world skydiving championships

by isleofman.com 6th August 2010

MANXMAN Selwyn Facey has claimed honours in the world artistic skydiving championships in Russia, finishing third in the team competition.

Born in Douglas but now living in North Carolina, he was a member of the three-man USA ‘freefly’ team competing in Manzelinsk, Tatarstan close to Moscow in Russia.

Selwyn, 29, went to Ballakermeen High School, and started skydiving because he didn’t want to work in an office. He has gone from strength to strength and now works in North Carolina as an instructor for Paraclete XP. Married to Mel, he has a son, Zion, aged 2.

Selwyn’s dad - also named Selwyn - made sporting news himself in June when he finished the challenging 85 miles Scottish Widows Parish Walk for the first time.

He and wife Janette left the Island this morning (Friday) to visit their son in the USA.
