Deadline approaching for Hero awards

A Douglas woman who nominated a friend for a Manx Radio Heroes in the Community Award last year, is urging other people to recognise someone special.

Christine Jones put Joan Watkinson forward in the Outstanding Contribution to Charity category, because of her tireless work for others, despite facing treatment for breast cancer.

Joan won the award, and said she was honoured to receive the accolade.

She passed away in March this year, but Christine says she is so pleased she took the opportunity to help her get recognition for her efforts (play audio file):
