THE Claremont Hotel in Douglas is undergoing a £1 million refurbishment with a re-design of its rooms to target business travellers.
In a statement, the hotel’s management said the project was designed to provide visitors with “a unique, new guest experience”.
Kim Chambers, General Manager of The Claremont, commented: “Our aim with this project is to provide an environment that is both contemporary and revolutionary to the Island. The designs for the new rooms are amazing, and will provide the modern business traveller with everything they could conceivably want during their stay, from luxurious comfort to state of the art communications and entertainment.”
In a statement today the hotel’s general manager Kim Chambers said, “The new rooms are based on a modern European Bauhaus influence with hypoallergenic finishes, to be both stylish and comfortable. The rooms will have super king size beds, which will be clothed with luxury fabrics and Tempur pressure relieving mattresses for maximum comfort.
“The bathrooms will be ‘wet rooms’ with floor to ceiling tiling, complimentary Aveda luxury toiletries and, in the case of the honeymoon suite, even a TV in the shower. Bespoke European furniture and timber floors are just two examples of the stylish finishes that guests will be able to enjoy.”
The refurbishment will also focus on technological improvement. Each room will have individual access to free wireless broadband and they will also be equipped with full entertainment suites, including iPod docking stations and 32” flat screen televisions with BluRay DVD players.
Mark Wilson, managing director of owners Sleepwell Hotels, added, “This is a major investment in quality business class accommodation in the heart of Douglas. The industry average spend on a single room is £15,000, but we are set to spend in excess of £37,000 per room. That gives you an idea of the kind of quality service we are aiming to provide.
“When the new rooms are finished, we believe that The Claremont will be the Island’s premier choice for hosting business guests on the Island.”
The project is expected to be completed by autumn.
