by isleofman.com 4th August 2010

THE Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has announced further amended information for passengers caused by the engineering works being carried out on its vessels.

Both the Manannan and the Snaefell are currently undergoing repairs which has affected some sailings to and from the Island.

In a statement issued this evening (Wednesday) the Steam Packet announced the following crossing times:-

•  The Liverpool route departure timings are unaffected and the passage time will continue to be around 3 hours.

•  The Dublin route will be around 4 hours.

•  The Belfast route will be around 3 hours 45 minutes.

All sailings on the Belfast and Dublin routes that were scheduled to depart at 1400 will now depart at 1445 until further notice.

All sailings on these routes that were scheduled to depart at 1815 will now depart at 1830 until further notice.

The company has also given updated information on its Fleetwood Day Trip scheduled for August 7th. The Douglas to Fleetwood 0645 will now depart at 0600 and the Fleetwood to Douglas will depart at 0915 as scheduled.

The Douglas to Fleetwood 1900 will now depart at 1800 and the Fleetwood to Douglas 2130 will depart as scheduled.

The Steam Packet said, “These alterations to the schedule were necessary due to an increase in the crossing time to 2 hours 45 minutes and the need to coincide with the correct tidal conditions at Fleetwood.

“Isle of Man Steam Packet Company reservations staff will continue contacting passengers who have a revised departure time and ask that all passengers ensure that they have left mobile phone or other contact details.

Chief Executive Mark Woodward added, “Once again I would like to apologise to passengers for the ongoing longer crossing times, but having given the situation due consideration, I still feel that this approach causes the least disruption to passengers and avoids the need to cancel sailings.

“Snaefell repairs will therefore commence after the school holiday period. Manannan is maintaining revised schedules on the Liverpool route and we are continuing to monitor the situation.”

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has urged those travelling to check-in as promptly as possible to ensure on time, and where possible, slightly earlier departures.
