The father of a young Royal Marine seriously injured in Afghanistan when a suicide bomber blew himself up while he was on patrol, says his son truly loved serving in the army.
Twenty-three-year-old Martin Peters, from Broadway in Douglas, is due to undergo a third operation on his leg today (Tuesday).
He was flown back to Britain after the incident in Helmand, with severe shrapnel injuries.
His parents Derek and Karen are with him at Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he is said to be in good spirits.
