A jury has been shown CCTV footage of an alleged killer.

Simon Paul Leece faces seven counts of arson and one of murder and his trial, before Deemster Birkett, is expected to last three weeks.

He is accused of killing Terence Milburn Losh after setting fire to the hallway of 19 Desmesne Road, Douglas in March, 2009.

The jury will visit the scenes of the alleged crimes today (Tuesday).

Opening the case for the prosecution, Roger Farley, QC, outlined the sequence of events which he said led to the fire being started at Mr Losh's home.

He said the prosecution alleged Mr Leece had started three fires at properties in the Fairfield Terrace area in the hours before the fatal blaze.

The jury was shown video footage which Mr Farley said showed Mr Leece had been in the area where the crimes were committed.

The trial continues.
