Mark Cavendish's brilliance at the Tour de France has led to him being courted by Team Sky again.

Team manager Dave Brailsford, who's also British Cycling's Performance Director, has revealed that he wants to sign the Manx Missile after seeing him win five stages at Le Tour last month.

He's looking to team Cav up Britain’s triple Olympic gold medallist, Bradley Wiggins, in his outfit, which also includes Manxman Peter Kennaugh in its ranks.

"Who wouldn’t want Cav?’ said Brailsford. "He's one of the biggest names in the sport, if not the biggest.

He has an X Factor few have. He speaks his mind and he has huge lows and highs. But he always ends up smiling, the guy is a born winner and cycling's very happy to have him."

Team Sky was put together last year with the aim of delivering a British yellow jersey winner at the the Tour de France within five years.

It was built around Wiggins, but he failed to improve on his fourth place for Garmin in his first Tour de France last year, finishing 24th in the 2010 overall classification.

Now Brailsford believes he can mount a two-pronged assault on a podium place for Wiggins and the sprinters' green jersey for Cav.

The 25-year-old Manxman has a year left on his HTC-Columbia contract though and has so far remained loyal to the team he's secured the majority of his professional victories with.
