Minister confirms stricter criteria for IVF

by isleofman.com 2nd August 2010

IVF treatment for couples in the Isle of Man desperate to have a baby will continue to be paid for by the Department of Health.

But the number of IVF cycles offered will be reduced, and the criteria allowing people onto the programme will be revised.

The Department of Health has confirmed the budget has been cut in the search for savings.

However, Health Minister David Anderson hasn't said how many IVF cycles couples will be allowed (play audio file):

The Health Service provides a range of fertility treatments which will continue.

IVF is usually the last resort for couples who can't conceive.
