THE Ocean Countess cruise ship will visit Douglas Bay on Sunday.
If it is full a total of 1,164 people (passengers and crew) will be arriving in the Island.
Political member for Isle of Man Tourism Geoff Corkish MHK said: "Readers with an interest in matters maritime who have retentive memories may recognise the profile of the Ocean Countess during its call to Douglas as the former Cunard line ship, the Cunard Countess.
"It subsequently changed ownership and has cruised in the Far East, then the Mediterranean, and thereafter for a German charterer as the Lili Marleen."
In April this year the vessel was chartered by British charterer Cruise and Maritime Voyages and, in preparation for her debut series of cruises from the British Isles, Ocean Countess underwent a £3m refurbishment programme.
The vessel will make a second call to the Island on August 27.
Other cruise ships to visit the Island in August include the Hebridean Princess at Peel on August 9 and 10 and Residensea's The World on August 12 and 13.
The recent visit of Fred Olsen's Balmoral broke the record for the largest tally of passengers and crew to call at the Island on a day visit in recent times - 1,863 people in total.
