Southern Show - Timetable of Events

THE Southern Agricultural Show takes place on Saturday and Sunday at Great Meadow in Castletown. The timetable for the show is as follows:-

 

SATURDAY JULY 31ST

 

09.00:  Judging of light horses in three rings

09.30:  Young Farmers stock judging - cattle and sheep

09.30:  Dog obedience tests - held in the Dog Ring

 

10.00:  SHOW OPENS TO THE PUBLIC (adults £5, children £1).

 

10.00:  Judging of Young Handlers

10.00:  Judging of cattle sections and Young Farmers inter-club dairy competition

10.00:  Judging of shortwool sheep classes

10.00:  Judging of longwool sheep classes

10.00:  Judging of heavy horses in main ring

10.00:  Judging of the exhibits in the Women’s Institute Marquee - top of field

11.00:  Judging of vintage exhibits - top of field

11.00:  Judging of craft and produce classes

11.00:  Judging of light horse driving classes

11.00:  Judging of Young Farmers inter-club sheep judging

13.00:  Judging of dog agility tests commence - Dog Ring

14.00:  Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band

14.30:  Ellan Vannin Gymnastics Club display

14.30:  His Honour Deemster and Mrs Doyle arrive and the official party tours the showfield

 

15.15:  GRAND PARADE OF ALL WINNERS IN THE MAIN RING FOLLOWED BY JUDGING OF THE SUPREME CHAMPION (judges to be chosen by the SDAS President immediately prior to the Grand Parade).

 

Main trophies will then be presented by Deemster Doyle.

 

 

 

SUNDAY AUGUST 1ST

 

11.30:  SHOW OPENS TO PUBLIC (adults £2.50, children free).

 

12.00:  Showjumping in the light horse field

12.00:  Working hunter classes in the light horse field

12.00:  Dog agility demonstration

12.00:  Companion Dog Show - enter on the day

12.00:  Vintage display in the Main Ring

13.30:  Friends of the MSPCA pet show judging begins

14.00:  Children’s sports in the Main Ring

14.00:  Young Farmers Inter-Club cookery competition

15.30:  Vintage display in Main Ring

15.45:  Terrier and lurcher racing in Main Ring

 

Throughout the day - demonstration of various crafts by members of Women’s Institutes

 

 

Catering outlets, mobile caterers and the WI Tea Tent will be open throughout both days with the Beer Tent open from 10am to 6pm (Saturday) and 12 noon to 6pm (Sunday).
