School's out - but the grounds remain open

by isleofman.com 27th July 2010

SCHOOLS may have shut for the summer holidays but their grounds remain open for recreational use.

Education and Children Minister Eddie Teare MHK said: "During the long summer holiday I hope that children will take the opportunity to play outdoors.

"The grounds of all our schools remain open and can be used during the holidays, but we just ask those who use the facilities to take care and think of others."

Children should not do anything to endanger their own or others’ safety while playing in school grounds.

Mr Teare added: "There will be no supervision provided by the department and it is important that all users act responsibly.

"If the sunny weather continues, and let’s hope it does, children, especially, need to be protected against the sun. Keep the suntan lotion handy and enjoy the summer and we will see everyone safe and sound in September."
