Steam Packet problems 'bad luck'

The Island's passenger watchdog TravelWatch has urged the Steam Packet to keep travellers informed about delays caused by the engine problems afflicting its fast craft.

Both the Snaefell and Manannan are running one-engine-down, as a result of crankshaft failure.

Services are being maintained, although crossing times between Douglas and Liverpool are around 30 minutes longer.

Travel Watch chairman Brendan O'Friel says it's very bad luck for the company at the start of the school holiday period.
