Should students be forced to pay back their university fees by coming back to the Island to work?
That was one suggestion put forward yesterday as Manx students took part in Junior Tynwald, when the young politicians of the future put two motions and twenty questions before the court.
The real ministers were on hand to answer the questions which covered subjects such as the Island’s fish stocks, facilities for young people – and even whether Junior Tynwald was a good way of engaging young people in politics.
Charlie Williams of St Ninian’s High School put it to the court that anyone whose degree was paid for by the Manx taxpayer should return to the Isle of Man to work for the good of the Island.
In the end, however, the court failed to back his motion.
