Rushen MHK Juan Watterson says he’s pleased the Treasury is going to open up its annual budget process to politicians.
He says his earlier attempts to force the issue were defeated by a narrow margin – but Treasury Minister Anne Craine says she’s now had a change of heart.
The department will now consider how MHKs and MLCs can get involved in putting the budget together each year.
Mr Watterson says it’s a positive move.
