by isleofman.com 15th July 2010

CASTLETOWN Cricket Club's Gareth Morris has been named Standard Bank Player of the Month for June.

His performance during the judging period saw him achieve 500 runs, including three centuries in the Standard Bank Premiership and one in the Lancashire Cup in consecutive weekend fixtures.

Nominations for June were also made for Peter Lewis, Daniel Dickinson, Russell Miller, Max Stokoe and Phil Littlejohns.

They were judged by Chris Till, director of Standard Bank, Andy Dalrymple of Isle of Man Newspapers and Gareth Dawson, the Isle of Man Cricket Association's development officer.

Gareth will receive a £50 sports voucher, a Standard Bank cricket hat and a certificate.

The initiative was launched to recognise individuals who make an outstanding contribution in a match or who display a consistently high level of performance.

For the remainder of the season two more awards will be up for grabs by players nominated by the Isle of Man Cricket Association.

Standard Bank has supported the IOMCA for 15 consecutive years and currently sponsors the Standard Bank Premiership, the 20/20 leagues, the Knockout Challenge Trophy, the Blincoe Cup and the Six-a-side competition.
