POLICE are investigating after a number of items were stolen from a building site in Abbeylands.

It happened overnight on Friday, July 9.

PC Alan Shimmin said: "Sometime overnight persons have forced their way into the secured area and taken a large light blue diesel generator, a builder's radio, a trench rammer and some plastic sheeting/tarpaulin.

"The total value of the items stolen was in the region of £2,900.

"It is clear this site was targeted and I would urge anyone in the building trade to ensure their tools are secured away safely at night."

Anyone who has been offered any power tools is asked to contact the police. Any such information would be treated with confidence.

The number for Police Headquarters is 631212.
