Could UK attack Island finance again?

by isleofman.com 13th July 2010

Is the UK preparing another assault on the Isle of Man?

That’s what North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson wants to know as he asks a question in Tynwald later today.

He’ll ask Treasury Minister Anne Craine about the UK’s recent emergency budget – and specifically what Westminster means when it says it will tighten tax avoidance rules.

Mr Henderson says it’s an ominous phrase which could mean customers of offshore banks here in the Island are targeted by the taxman again.
