There’ll be no redundancies immediately at the Isle of Man College refectory.
That’s according to a union chief after a further meeting with staff yesterday (Mon)
Unite regional industrial organiser Steve Salter and Education Minister Eddie Teare met those whose jobs are under threat due to the loss-making refectory.
Up to 17 part and full-time posts could go in the facility, which made a ?182,000 loss last year, unless staff can identify cost-saving ideas.
The consultation period has been extended until the end of September and staff will have until March to demonstrate their proposals will make a difference.
However, while Mr Salter can’t give guarantees there won’t be job losses, he says the outlook is brighter than it was a fortnight ago.
